>>> Ironman 70.3 Panama update <<<

Unfortunately, my first race of the season – the Ironman 70.3 Panama – didn’t go so well. After a good swim, I quickly went through T1 and jumped onto my bike. However, soon after I realized that there was a problem with my aero bars. I therefore stopped immediately in order to try to fix it. However, being unable to repair the bike without assistance and having no bike support available in time for me to remain competitive, I decided to drop out of the race. After 15 minutes the girls were simply already too far ahead….

Extremely saddened and frustrated for not being able to finish the race due to a mechanical, I went for a 12 mile run instead – to blow off some steam. ;-)

Inspite of bad fortune, I really like this race, which was well organized. Also, Panama is an amazing country. But it certainly is also very hot.

I look forward to my next race in San Juan next month and can’t wait for the gun to go off again.

Sometimes bad things happen for a reason. And good times are to follow!

>>> Ironman 70.3 Panama  <<<

The Ironman 70.3 Panama is this weekend ...

It will be my first time in Panama and I very much look forward to this trip. Even though it's a little bit early in the season, I can't wait for the gun to go off and race again.

Since this is Panama's inaugural IM 70.3 race, I wish the organizer a wonderful event and that everything will work out without a glitch.

I also thank Clif Bar, Selle Italia and Rudy Project for working together in 2012 and hope that we will have a great year.

>>> Lake Louisa State Park Half Marathon  <<<

I very much enjoyed my first training race at the Lake Louisa State Park Half Marathon on December 17. It was a perfect race and extremely well organized - especially when taking into consideration that this was the first time a half marathon was held at this location. Hopefully, it will become an annual event.
My goal was to try running a consistent 6:30 min./mile pace. However, the numerous hills took their toll and were hard on my body. Therefore I slowed down a little toward the end. Nevertheless, I'm really happy with the result after the long off-season break.

Top 3 results:
- Nina Kraft 1:25:03
- Kaitlyn Campo 1:27:27
- Anna Siliciano 1:29:05

>>> X-mas  <<<

I had a fabulous off-season and was able to take full advantage of my spare time – doing lots of exciting things I usually don’t have the time for. One of the highlights was getting my certification as a scuba diver. I had a blast and can’t wait to visit many exotic places in order to explore the magnificent under-water world.

 After a relaxing off-season, I’m happy to be training again and enjoying the triathlon lifestyle ... !

 I'm also looking forward to the Holidays, which will be extra special this year since my family will be coming to town from Overseas. It can’t get much better than that! :) To top it all off, we will be going to the Keys to celebrate my Dad's 70th birthday.

 Shortly thereafter I will train very hard in order to get ready for my first race in 2012, which will be the Ironman 70.3 Panama in February.

 Wishing you all Happy Holidays and a New Year filled with lots of laughter, health and happiness!

>>> 70.3 Miami <<<

The IM 70.3 Miami this upcoming weekend will be Nina's last race of the season. After a successful but also pretty long season, she is looking forward to a well-deserved 4-week break from the sport of triathlon in order to fully rejuvenate. This will enable her to come back even stronger and faster, so she can go all out in 2012... Possibly making history...

>>> Rev3 Anderson <<<

Nina looks forward to racing at Rev3 Anderson in October for the first time.

>>> Rainy & Cold Days in Branson<<<

There was a lot of rain leading up to the Ironman 70.3 Branson on September 18.  That and the colder temperatures at race start weren’t to Nina’s liking. In addition, only three weeks had passed since her Louisville win and her legs were still heavy. Despite of all that, Nina was able to place 2nd, which was quite impressive.  Particularly also because Branson has one of the toughest bike courses of the entire Ironman 70.3 series. It is a wonderful race!

>>> Nina wins Ironman Louisville<<<

Just four weeks prior to the race, Nina decided to sign up for her favorite competition – the Ironman Louisville. Due to a hamstring injury, she had been unable to train at 100% for the full Ironman distance for more than one year.  Therefore sealing her comeback to the Ironman with a victory was perfect. She was leading the entire race from start to finish. This was her 8th Ironman win.
